Dr. Steven Berkowitz
Dr. Steven Berkowitz was born and raised in Miami Beach. He then attended Towson University in Maryland and earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery from the University of Maryland Dental School. He completed a three-year postgraduate residency in periodontics at the University of Maryland Dental School and simultaneously earned a Master of Science from the University of Maryland Graduate School. His research involved pharmaceutical agents to enhance bone regeneration outcomes.
Dr. Berkowitz has been involved in numerous clinical research projects including evaluation of local antibiotic treatment for periodontal disease, evaluation of J-Block allograft bone grafts, and dental implant comparisons.
During school, Dr. Berkowitz assumed many leadership roles, including serving as class vice president, member of the judicial ethical board, and was recognized by the International College of Dentists for his leadership potential. He also received an award from the Northeastern Society of Periodontists for Excellence in Periodontics.
Dr. Berkowitz is board certified by the American Board of Periodontology. As a Diplomate of the Board, he is committed to provide optimal, comprehensive periodontal therapy. His practice is limited to the treatment of periodontal disease and dental implant surgery.
In his spare time, Dr. Berkowitz enjoys spending time with his family, playing tennis, and practicing guitar.
Dr. Wayne Silverman
Director of Coding and Compliance
A graduate of the University of Maryland, Baltimore College of Dental Surgery, 1977, Dr. Silverman maintains a private practice in Hanover, PA. He is a certified dental consultant through the American Association of Dental Consultants, and is on the Board of Directors. A member of the ADA, PDA and a Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry, Dr. Silverman is also a clinical instructor, Dean’s Faculty, at the University of Maryland, School of Dentistry.
Currently, Dr. Silverman serves as the Dental Director at Dominion, USA, a dental benefits company in Alexandria, VA. Previously, he was the dental director for United Concordia, Tricare Dental Plan. He has presented continuing education programs on CDT coding at the Greater New York Dental Meeting, Yankee Dental, Big Apple, and the University of Maryland. Private consulting services include clinical due diligence for mergers and acquisitions and representation of dentists in third party audits.
